There are some real differences running the JDK on OpenVMS
Alpha systems that could trip you up! Please read the documentation,
and our OpenVMS Alpha faq
for critical usage information that will save you time and effort.
To download JDK 5.0-5 for OpenVMS Alpha simply follow the instructions
below.
Operating System Requirements
The JDK 5.0-5 kit requires OpenVMS Alpha V8.2 or higher. This
kit will not run on versions of OpenVMS Alpha prior to V8.2.
Also, note that OpenVMS Alpha V7.1, V7.1-1, V7.2-1, and V7.2-1H1
are now retired. Please visit the OpenVMS
Web site if you need to upgrade your operating system.
Other Prerequisites:
- JDK 5.0 must be installed on an ODS-5 formatted
disk.
- TCP/IP V5.5 with latest ECO for OpenVMS Alpha V8.2.
Note: We do not support MultiNet directly. All of our testing and certification is
done using TCP/IP Services for OpenVMS; however, because we do not call TCP/IP
directly and use only the socket functions available from HP C, MultiNet should
work with this JDK.
- DECwindows Motif V1.2-6, if you plan on AWT use.
- Secure Web Browser (SWB) 1.7-8
or higher based on Mozilla, or SWB 1.1-12 or higher based on SeaMonkey,
if you plan on using Java Plugins with SWB.
- Mandatory ECOs (patches) as noted below.
OpenVMS Alpha Patches
Before installing and using this kit, you must
first obtain and install any necessary patches (ECOs) described
on the JDK 5.0 patch installation
page. Do NOT attempt to run JDK 5.0-5 without first installing
these patches.
